CALL FOR DESIGNING LOGO FOR DYKE MARCH

DEADLINE: MARCH 20, 2010

Mission

The mission of the San Francisco Dyke March is to bring the dyke community together to be visible in a celebration of our diverse communities and to raise awareness of issues affecting all of us, strengthening an international perspective in our community. The Dyke March organizing committee advocates civil and social justice for dykes around the world.

The annual rally and march takes place on the Saturday of Pride weekend. The rally/cultural event showcases our communities’ artists, critical thinkers and political activists on this day when thousands of dykes take our space, proclaiming rights and demanding respect.

History of the Dyke March

In 1992, a group of San Francisco lesbians organized the first Dyke March during the national LGBT march in Washington, D.C. The following year, the same group organized the Dyke March in San Francisco, where approximately 10,000 women attended. The Dyke March now attracts 50,000 participants from around the world.
